Maruarar Sirait Says House Surgery is Sharp, This Year Breaks 400 Thousand Units
JAKARTA - The government has raised the target for renovating people's homes drastically in 2026. Minister of Housing and Spatial Planning (PKP) Maruarar Sirait (Ara) said this year's home surgery program was prepared for 400,000 units, up from 45,000 units last year.
The increase, said Ara, was after being summoned by President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta, Monday, April 6. According to the Minister of PKP, the President gave full support for the expansion and acceleration of the people's housing program.
"Last year it was 45,000 houses, this year 400,000 houses," said Ara, as he is usually called.
Not only the number has jumped. The coverage of the program has also been expanded. If last year about 220 regencies/cities did not get it, this year all regencies/cities in Indonesia are said to get the home surgery program.
Ara said that this step was not just a matter of leaking roofs or fragile walls. The government sees it as an instrument of justice as well as an economic driver. This means that the state wants intervention in the housing sector to be more tangible, especially for low-income people.
He added that the government was preparing a scheme so that this program was targeted. The determination of the recipient will refer to BPS data, especially the desil 1 to desil 4 group. The goal, he said, is that the assistance does not fall into the wrong group.
"Don't let the rich get it, the needy, the less able can't," he said.
Ara also hinted that the government was preparing further steps so that the scale of the program could be even larger in the future. In terms of policy, state intervention is said to have been carried out through the release of BPHTB and PBG for low-income people.
