WhatsApp Tests Noise Cancelling Feature for Voice and Video Calls
JAKARTA - In the latest beta version of the application for Android devices, WhatsApp is seen adding a noise cancellation feature to voice and video calls.
This feature will keep the user's voice clear during the call, even when the user is in a very noisy environment. This noise suppressor works by detecting and filtering background sounds in real-time.
In this testing phase, the noise-canceling feature can be found in the settings menu when audio and video calls take place. It seems that this feature will be active automatically and users can turn it off while calls are being made.
This damping system is present to ensure that the interlocutor can hear the user's voice more clearly. However, keep in mind that this feature does not improve the quality of the voice that the user hears from others.
This feature will be very useful for users who often make calls in public places, for example like cafes or crowded streets. The noise of the plates colliding or the noise of vehicles outside the room will be eliminated in the call.
WhatsApp still gives users freedom if they want to turn off the feature. This is done because some users may have different audio preferences for digital voice processing.
Currently, the new noise-canceling support is only available to a number of beta testers who have installed the latest version through the Google Play Store. Access for public users will be provided gradually in the next few weeks as the testing phase is completed.
