West Lampung Coastal House Fire Kills German Citizen

JAKARTA - A fire in a house in Pekon (village) Kampung Jawa, West Coast Regency, Lampung Province killed a foreign citizen (WNA) from Germany.

The head of the West Coast Police and Fire Department (Satpol PP and Damkar) Cahyadisaat was contacted from South Lampung to confirm that the fire occurred on Monday, April 6, at 03.30 WIB.

"The fire brigade moved quickly to respond to reports from residents and headed to the scene," he said, quoted by ANTARA.

According to him, during the extinguishing process, officers received information from the owner of the house, there was still one victim trapped in the flames.

"Based on the owner's statement, there was an expatriate grandmother still in the room, then the personnel put out the fire, after the fire was extinguished, the body was found on the floor next to the bed," he said.

He explained that the victim was known as Helena Vera Otto (92), a foreigner from Germany.

According to him, after the victim was successfully evacuated by officers, the foreign national's body was taken to the nearest health facility for further examination.

"After the identification was carried out by the police personnel, the body was taken to the central coastal health center for an autopsy," he said.
