Exposed by Viral Video, Police Uncover Illegal Drug Distribution in Bogor
BOGOR - Police followed up on a report from the community regarding the alleged circulation of G-class hard drugs in the Megamendung District, Bogor Regency. The Megamendung Police revealed that the sale of hard drugs was viral through social media.
During the operation, officers found a number of various types of illegal drugs that were suspected of being sold illegally. The evidence seized included 70 pieces of tramadol, 268 pieces of hexymer, 50 pieces of trihexyphenidyl, and 70 pieces of double Y. In addition, the police also seized cash of around Rp806,000 which was suspected to be the proceeds of the sale and one mobile phone unit.
Megamendung Police Chief AKP Desi Triana said the action was taken after his party received a report from residents and the circulation of a video on social media regarding suspicious activities at the location.
"We follow up on information from the public and viral videos. After checking the location, there was an alleged sale of G-listed drugs. The perpetrator and the evidence were immediately secured," said Desi, Monday, April 6.
He explained that the suspect with the initials TSS (30) had been secured and currently the case had been handed over to the Bogor Police Narcotics Unit for further legal proceedings.
"We have also asked for information from the person concerned. Based on his confession, the new sales activity has only been going on for about a month. However, we are still investigating this," he said.
Desi emphasized that his party would continue to follow up on every report from the public and increase supervision of the circulation of illegal hard drugs in its jurisdiction.
"We will continue to carry out raids in suspected locations and are committed to making the Megamendung area free from the misuse of G-type drugs," he said.
He also appealed to the public to immediately report if they find suspicious activities. Reports can be submitted through the 110 call center or the Bogor Police complaint service number which is available 24 hours a day.
