Dito Ariotedjo was inaugurated as Minister of Youth and Sports in memory of today, April 3, 2023
JAKARTA - Today's memory, three years ago, April 3, 2023, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially appointed Ario Bimo Nandito Ariotedjo or Dito Ariotedjo as Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora). Jokowi hopes that Dito can continue the agenda of his predecessor, Zainuddin Amali in advancing the world of sports.
Previously, the presence of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Amali in the exchange of candidates for Vice Chairman of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) brought a commotion. Amali is considered a potential double post. Fortunately, after winning he chose to resign from the post of Minister of Youth and Sports.
Jokowi's leadership for two terms was not smooth. This condition is because many of Jokowi's decisions are bad precedents for the future of the Indonesian political climate. Take for example when his cabinet ministers in the Advanced Indonesian Cabinet wanted to double their posts.
The issue arose because Erick Thohir, who is the Minister of SOEs, was included in the PSSI General Chairman candidate exchange. Criticism is getting stronger because Amali, the Minister of Sports, is also included in the PSSI Vice Chairman candidate exchange.
This means that when the two are elected, they are officially double-jabbed. The narrative is considered a defiance of the applicable rules. All because Erick and Amali have the potential to violate Law Number 39 of 2008 concerning State Ministries.
The contents of the line of ministers cannot be duplicated because the work as a minister is quite heavy. The nomination of the two received criticism and criticism. However, criticism is considered a passing wind by the government.
Later, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin spoke up. He considered that the second candidate had actually received the blessing of President Jokowi. The narrative was because the two were considered not to have violated the rules of the World Football Federation, FIFA, and did not violate the PSSI rules.
The culmination of the two ministers was that Jokowi managed to become the top PSSI official in the Extraordinary Congress (KLB) of the PSSI at the Shangri-La Hotel, Central Jakarta on February 16, 2023. Erick Thohir became the General Chairman of PSSI and Amali became the Deputy General Chairman of PSSI.
The narrative made the two of them required to resign from the position of minister. However, only Zainudin Amali chose to resign in March 2023. Erick instead remained as Minister of SOEs as well as Chairman of the General Assembly of PSSSI.
"It's not ethical for me as the Minister of Youth and Sports who oversees all sports, to focus only on one branch," said Zainudin as quoted by the Liputan 6 website, March 9, 2023.
Zainudin's resignation made President Jokowi think. He tried to find a replacement for Zainudin. Later the choice finally fell to Golkar Party cadre, Dito Ariotedjo. Jokowi considers Dito, who is still 32 years old, can lead the Ministry of Youth and Sports well.
As a result, Jokowi then officially appointed Dito as Minister of Youth and Sports at the State Palace on April 3, 2023. Jokowi hopes that Dito can advance the world of youth and sports in Indonesia so that it can develop rapidly and massively. Moreover, Dito is considered the youngest minister in the Indonesian Advanced Cabinet.
"By Allah, I swear that I will be loyal to the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia in 1945. And I will carry out all laws and regulations as straight as possible for my service to the nation and state."
"That I will uphold the ethics of the post in carrying out my duties. Work as best as possible with a sense of responsibility," said Dito in the oath of office as quoted by the Cabinet Secretariat website, April 3, 2023.
