Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant Attacked by the United States and Israel, Iran Officially Admitted to the IAEA

JAKARTA - Iran officially reported to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) about an attack that occurred near the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) on Saturday morning.

Previously, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran said the Bushehr nuclear power plant was fired by the United States and Israel, causing the death of a worker.

In a statement on the X platform, the IAEA said the projectile hit an area near the Bushehr facility, which was the fourth incident in recent weeks.

Iran also reported that a security officer was killed by shrapnel. Meanwhile, a building at the location was affected by the shock wave from the explosion.

The IAEA confirmed that there was no increase in radiation levels.

Launching ANTARA, Saturday, April 4, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi expressed deep concern over the incident and stressed that nuclear facilities and surrounding areas should not be targets of attacks.

Grossi also called on all parties to exercise maximum restraint to prevent the risk of a nuclear accident.
