BRIN Jajaki Global Regional Research Cooperation with Russia
JAKARTA - The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) is exploring opportunities for global regional research cooperation as well as building strategic collaboration in the fields of social, humanities, and regional studies with the Russian Academy of Sciences.
This emerged in a meeting between the two parties at the Widya Graha BRIN Building, Jakarta, Tuesday, March 31.
"This meeting is a good opportunity to understand each other's research focus. In the future, it is hoped that it will develop into more concrete cooperation," said Head of the Social and Humanities Science Research Organization BRIN, Muhammad Najib Azca in a statement in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Saturday, April 4.
Najib assessed that international collaboration is an important element in improving the quality and competitiveness of national research.
Direct interaction between researchers across countries opens up opportunities for exchanging perspectives, methodologies, and best practices in generating more comprehensive knowledge.
In line with this, the Head of the BRIN Regional Research Center, Fadjar Ibnu Thufail, said that this visit was a first step in building sustainable scientific communication as well as exploring the alignment of the research agenda of the two institutions.
"We appreciate the visit and openness of the Russian Academy of Sciences researchers. This dialogue is important to find common ground in research interests, especially in the development of sustainable regions, regional dynamics, and interdisciplinary approaches," he said.
Fadjar added that in the future, collaboration is expected to not stop at exchanging ideas, but to develop into joint research, collaborative publications, and strengthening human resource capacity through researcher mobility programs and international scientific forums.
Representing the Russian Academy of Sciences, Director of the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia, Kirill Babaev assessed this meeting as a constructive start to building a mutually beneficial research partnership.
He also emphasized the importance of international collaboration in understanding the dynamics of the ever-evolving Asian region, both in terms of economics, society, and geopolitics. According to him, the exchange of knowledge between countries will enrich the perspective of analysis as well as produce more relevant research to support the formulation of public policies.
"We greatly appreciate the opportunity to discuss with BRIN researchers. This is a good first step to explore potential future cooperation," said Kiriil Babaev.
