Apple Releases iOS 26.5 Beta 1, Minimal Changes and Focuses on Bug Fixes
Apple has again released a revised version of its initial testing of its operating system, iOS 26.5 developer beta 1. This update comes without an official explanation of the reason for the change, sparking speculation among developers.
This latest version comes with build number 23F5043k, slightly increased from the previous version 23F5043g. This slight difference indicates that this update does not bring new features, but focuses more on bug fixes and technical improvements.
Previously, the iOS 26.5 beta had been in the spotlight for accidentally activating the Apple Intelligence feature for some users in China - something that should not have been widely available. This revision is allegedly a quick move by Apple to tidy up the inconsistencies.
In the latest update, several features are still maintained for testing, including RCS message support with end-to-end encryption and updates to the Notification Forwarding feature. However, overall, iOS 26.5 so far looks like a minor update without any major breakthroughs.
The absence of a significant improvement in the Siri virtual assistant is also a concern. The Siri upgrade feature that was previously promised has not yet appeared in this initial beta phase, although the opportunity to add it in the next version remains open as the testing cycle progresses.
With the development phase still in its early stages, the final direction of iOS 26.5 can still change. But for now, this update feels more like a "maintenance update" - important for developers, but not enough to make general users say, "wah, this is a mandatory upgrade
