Toyota recalls Hilux production 2025-2026, more than 13 thousand units affected
JAKARTA - Toyota Australia has recalled the latest generation of the Hilux pickup truck from 2025-2026 due to a potential defect in the electric power steering module.
Citing the Drive page, Friday, April 3, a total of 13,390 units were affected. The local principal said that the affected vehicles had been equipped with bull bars or nudge bars from Toyota Genuine Accessories with headlights whose wiring may have been installed incorrectly.
"This can interfere with the ground connection to the Electric Power Steering (EPS) module, which can potentially cause the EPS to malfunction," reads the Toyota report.
It is also stated that the loss of power steering assistance will increase the power required to drive at low speeds.
"It has the potential to increase the risk of accidents, causing injury or death to vehicle passengers or other road users," added the Toyota report.
Toyota invites affected users to have it checked at the official dealer network and, if necessary, repair the orientation of the EPS grounding terminal at no cost to the owner.
The inspection and repair will take about 30 minutes, though owners may be asked to leave their cars at the dealership for longer, depending on the service center's work schedule.
Toyota Australia stated that the damage did not result in any warnings, so it is best to contact your nearest dealer to check your vehicle and fix the problem.
