The presence of Kasper Hjulmand as Bayer Leverkusen's New Coach Disamput Positive Jonas Hofmann

JAKARTA - Wing player Jonas Hofmann said the arrival of new coach Kasper Hjulmand at the start of the season gave the German Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen a new spirit.

Quoted from a release reported by Antara Friday, Hofmann said this coach change had a positive impact on Bayer Leverkusen, who had been struggling at the start of the season.

"I think it's beneficial for us. After Kasper came, we were on the right track, doing very well," said Hofmann.

"We are in a good place, where we want to be. I think after a big change, it's not a bad thing if we compete for a place in the Champions League," he said.

Bayer Leverkusen made a change of coach at the start of this season from Erik ten Hag to Kasper Hjulmand due to a string of bad results.

Ten Hag only played two matches with Bayer Leverkusen in the German League without even winning after losing to Hoffenheim and being held to a draw by Werder Bremen.

After parting ways with Ten Hag, Hjulmand was appointed as head coach and was able to bring Bayer Leverkusen back into contention in the German top flight as well as qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League.

Currently, Bayer Leverkusen is in sixth place in the German League standings with 46 points from 27 matches, four points behind the top four.

In addition, this season Hofmann also got more opportunities to play with Bayer Leverkusen and he was very grateful for that.

"I'm happy to be able to play again. I think I've proven often enough this season that I can help the team, even if I don't score or assist in every game," said Hofmann.

"But there are many other important things in a team, and team success is the main thing. I am obviously a team player," he said.
