Trump's Wife Mocked France for Rejecting War, Macron: Not Elegant
JAKARTA - French President Emmanuel Macron considers it not elegant for US President Donald Trump to attack his personal life when discussing France's rejection of the US's call for war against Iran.
"It's not elegant and it's not up to standard," Macron told reporters in South Korea on Thursday, April 2 local time, quoted by The Guardian.
On that occasion, Macron also accused Trump of undermining NATO by doubting the Atlantic military alliance's commitment to the US.
Furthermore, Macron also rejected the possibility of France intervening in military operations in the Middle East.
He described Trump's request that France send a warship to a military operation to "liberate" the Strait of Hormuz as unrealistic.
Macron also warned that a US-Israeli war against Iran would not provide a long-term solution to ending the nuclear issue.
Macron's responses were some of France's sharpest criticism of Trump's foreign policy, particularly on the US conflict with Israel against Iran.
