Beringas! Massa Jarah Bangunan Posyandu dan Aset JCE di Bondowoso, Negara Rugi Rp12 Miliar

JAKARTA - The escalation of tensions in the Java Coffee Estate (JCE) coffee plantation area has broken out again and has now turned into pure criminal acts.

On Tuesday, March 31 night to Wednesday, April 1 morning, a group of people from the Kalisengon and Kaligedang areas forcibly dismantled and looted the company's double-storey building.

Ironically, one of the buildings that was destroyed was the Posyandu facility, which has been a health center for mothers and infants around the plantation.

From the scene, the condition of the building was seen to be collapsed. The building, which is located in Afdeling Kalisengon, just south of the road, is no longer in shape. The zinc roof, tiles, and the wooden support structure were looted by the masses.

The head of KSO JCE's corporate security, who was on the ground, confirmed that this riot had been monitored since Tuesday evening, around 19.30 WIB.

"Permission to convey facts on the ground. Starting last night at 19.31 WIB until this morning, the building of the former residence of the Head of the Great House was demolished by the residents of Kali Sengon. Materials in the form of wood, tiles, and zinc were looted. Until this morning, their activities are still taking place openly," said the Head of Security to reporters.

The company's internal security has even bagged a number of names who are suspected to be the provocateurs and field commanders in the looting. Names such as Adel, Jais, P. Yudi (Muslim), and Arnadin are said to have directly led the masses at the site of the destruction.

Crime that Exceeds Land Conflicts

The building that was the target of the mass rampage is actually a double building that functions as the Head Foreman's Office (1 unit) and Posyandu (1 unit). This building is directly opposite the debris of the Assistant Afdeling's Office which was previously also burned by the masses in May 2025.

For safety reasons and the increasingly unfavorable situation, JCE management has vacated the official residence since November 2025.

The manager of the KSO Java Coffee Estate Garden, Hastudy Yunarko, when met at his office could not hide his disappointment. He emphasized that this action had crossed the limits of tolerance for agrarian conflicts and purely entered the realm of crime.

"This is very worrying. What the masses destroyed and looted was not only state assets in the form of official residences, but also Posyandu facilities where people check their children's health. The material losses from last night's incident alone amounted to IDR 280 million," said Hastudy.

According to him, the impunity from local law enforcement officers makes the perpetrators more daring.

"This is clearly a structured robbery of state assets. We are very grateful for the police's help to immediately intervene in processing or arresting the names we have reported. If left alone, what else will they destroy tomorrow?" he added.

Exposure of Evidence of Losses

Hastudy also revealed a summary of the company's internal data. He emphasized that the incident of demolition and looting on March 31 was only one of a series of repeated terrors that hit the JCE area.

Hastudy detailed that the area continued to be shaken by criminal acts, ranging from burning the residence of the assistant afdeling in May 2025, illegally felling the company's coffee plants, to destroying the afdeling and Posyandu offices in Afdeling Kaligedang.

"Not only that, they also freely cut down mahogany, sengon, and jabon trees, and burned our company's important archives," he told reporters.

Based on a copy of the data shown, the impact of this allowance is very massive. "Based on our records, the accumulated losses incurred by the state due to the series of endless terrorist incidents are estimated to have reached more than IDR 12 billion," he said.

Workers Haunted by Terror

On the other hand, psychological trauma is felt by the workers in the garden. Chairman of the Nusantara Plantation Workers Union (SPBUN) NXII, Bramantya Admaja, urged the security forces to immediately ensure the safety of workers who depend on their fate at JCE.

"Our workers in the field are currently working under tremendous pressure and fear. If the Posyandu building is just demolished and looted in front of our eyes, what about the lives and safety of our workers? We from the trade union demand that the law be enforced as fairly as possible. Don't wait for there to be casualties before the police act," said Bramantya.
