Police Deploy 4,500 Personnel to Secure Easter in Jakarta
JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya has deployed as many as 4,500 personnel to secure the commemoration of Good Friday and the Easter or Resurrection of Jesus Christ which was celebrated on Friday (3/8) in the DKI Jakarta area and its surroundings.
"The presence of these personnel is intended to ensure that Christians can worship safely, comfortably, and diligently. The total strength prepared reached 4,500 personnel," said Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Budi Hermanto in his statement, Thursday, April 2, reported by ANTARA.
Budi said personnel would be deployed at churches, crowded spots, to locations that are the center of Christian activities during Easter celebrations.
According to him, the presence of the police on the ground is not only to maintain the situation of kamtibmas, but also as a form of service to the community.
"We have 4,500 personnel on standby to ensure that the entire Easter service runs safely and smoothly. The presence of personnel in the field is also a form of our service so that Christians can worship calmly and comfortably," said Budi.
He also explained that personnel were also prepared to support the smooth implementation of worship, ranging from sterilizing locations before the activity took place, arranging traffic flow, to routine patrols around the church area. All these steps are carried out so that the congregation can carry out worship more calmly and smoothly.
"We want the presence of the National Police to be truly felt by the community as a protector, companion, and servant. Therefore, this Easter security is not only oriented towards security aspects, but also on services to the people so that worship can take place peacefully and smoothly," said Budi.
Not only that, the Metro Jaya Police also appealed to the public to remain vigilant and immediately report to officers or through the 110 service if they find anything suspicious.
"With the readiness of personnel and the services provided, it is hoped that the series of Easter celebrations in 2026 will take place safely, orderly, and full of peace," said Budi.
