The Government is Quick to Form a Team to Calculate the Impact of the North Sulawesi and Malut Earthquakes

Jakarta - The government will immediately form a team to calculate the impact of damage from the earthquake that occurred in North Sulawesi and North Maluku with a magnitude of 7.6 on Thursday, April 2.

Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Suharyanto ensured that a special team would be immediately formed to verify and calculate the impact of the damage thoroughly.

This was conveyed by Suhartoyo when leading an online coordination meeting, Thursday, April 2. In addition to forming an assessment team, BNPB also asked all levels in the region to move quickly to reach affected communities, while ensuring that basic needs are met.

He also ordered the heads of the provincial and district/city BPBD to immediately visit the affected people together with the TNI and Polri. The officers are urged to provide accurate information.

Search and rescue efforts were also immediately prepared following reports of casualties and the potential for other victims who still needed to be evacuated.

Suharyanto emphasized that the central government would immediately go down to the affected locations to ensure that the handling was optimal.

Upon arrival at the location, the joint team will hold a follow-up meeting to formulate more detailed and coordinated handling steps with all parties in the area.
