Express Condolences, Vice President GibranDoorong Investigates the Death of 3 TNI Soldiers in Lebanon

JAKARTA - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka expressed deep condolences for the deaths of three TNI soldiers who were part of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), which was allegedly the result of an attack from the Israeli military.

"I express my deepest condolences for the deaths of Captain Inf. Zulmi Aditya Iskandar, Sertu Muhammad Nur Ichwan, and Praka Farizal Rhomadhon in the UNIFIL peace mission in Lebanon," said Vice President Gibran as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, April 1.

Gibran continued that the highest respect was intended for the three soldiers who died while dedicating themselves to carrying out their duties to maintain world peace.

"I fully support the thorough investigation by the United Nations (United Nations) and careful handling in accordance with the direction of President Prabowo, including maximum efforts related to the repatriation process," continued Gibran.

Praka Farizal Rhomadhon died while on a peace mission in South Lebanon, and currently his body is in the process of being repatriated to Indonesia. Praka Farizal is part of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in Company C UNP 7-1 Yonmek Task Force XXIII-S/UNIFIL.

The late Praka Farizal was killed by an artillery attack that hit the Indonesian contingent's location in Adshit al-Qusyar City in South Lebanon, Sunday (29/3).

Meanwhile, Captain (Inf) Zulmi Aditya Iskandar and Sertu Muhammad Nur Ichwan were killed while carrying out a vehicle escort mission in South Lebanon. Both of them are members of the B Company Escort Team of the Yonmek XXIII-S/UNIFIL Task Force, which is part of the East Mobile Reserve (SEMR), tasked with escorting a convoy of UNIFIL vehicles in the South Lebanon region, Monday (30/3).

The two TNI soldiers escorted the vehicle from the East Sector Mako UNIFIL United Nations Post (UNP) 7-2 to the Mako Task Force Yonmek TNI Konga XXIII-S/UNIFIL at UNP 7-1.

So far, the Indonesian Government and the TNI are still waiting for the results of the official investigation conducted by UNIFIL and the UN.

Apart from that, the TNI Commander, General TNI Agus Subiyanto, stated that the TNI granted extraordinary military operations promotions in addition to posthumous war to three soldiers who died while carrying out a peace mission in Lebanon as well as compensation for the families of each soldier.

"The three soldiers who died received an extraordinary military operation rank in addition to the posthumous war, as well as the Dag Hammarskjold Medal award," said TNI Commander General TNI Agus Subiyanto.

Not only from the country, Agus continued, the three soldiers also received compensation from the UN for the families of each soldier.

"The amount of compensation includes education scholarships for the children of fallen soldiers and various other soldier rights," he continued.

The commander explained that the family of Captain of the Infantry Zulmi Aditya Iskandar received compensation of IDR 1,894,688,236, Sertu Muhammad Nur Ikhwan IDR 1,846,309,049, and Praka Farizal Rhomadhon IDR 1,854,075,205.

"The family also receives a lump sum salary for 12 months consisting of basic salary, ULP, and post allowance and widow's pension after the lump sum salary is paid," said the Commander.

Agus expressed his hope that the compensation provided could ease the burden on the economy of the three soldiers' families.
