Polda Metro Perpanjang Masa Penahanan Dokter Richard Lee
JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya investigators have extended the detention of the suspect for alleged consumer protection violations, doctor Richard Lee, for 40 days. The extension is valid from March 26 to May 5, 2026.
Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, said that the decision was made to give time for investigators to wait for the results of the investigation of the case file by the prosecutor.
"The detention of the suspect DRL has been extended for the next 40 days," said Budi at the Polda Metro Jaya, Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
According to him, the case file was forwarded to the Banten High Prosecutor's Office on March 31, 2026 at around 13.00 WIB. Currently, investigators are still waiting for confirmation whether the file has been declared complete or still needs to be completed.
"Investigators are still waiting for the results of the prosecutor's research regarding the completeness of the case file," he said.
Previously, Richard Lee had served an initial detention period of 20 days since March 6, 2026. The extension was carried out as part of the investigation process to ensure that all case files were complete.
Deputy Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kompol Andaru Rahutomo, explained that the period of detention could be extended according to the needs of the investigation until the case was declared complete by the prosecutor's office.
"The initial detention lasted 20 days and can be extended as needed by investigators until the file is declared complete," he explained.
He added that if additional time is still needed for examination or completion of the file, the detention period can be extended again.
"Currently, the suspect is still being detained at the Metro Jaya Police Detention Center," he added.
This case began with a report from a consumer, Dr. Amira Farahnaz or known as Detective Doctor. He bought a number of beauty products owned by Richard Lee through the marketplace in October to November 2024.
The products purchased include White Tomato, DNA Salmon, and Miss V Stem Cell by Athena Group at prices ranging from hundreds of thousands to more than Rp.1 million. However, these products are suspected to have problems, ranging from ingredients that do not match the label, to non-sterile conditions, to alleged repackaging.
Based on the results of the investigation and the title of the case, investigators named Richard Lee as a suspect on December 15, 2025.
