Former MA Secretary Nurhadi Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison for Gratification-TPPU Case

JAKARTA - The Secretary of the Supreme Court for the period 2011-2016, Nurhadi, was sentenced to 5 years in prison for receiving gratification and committing money laundering (TPPU).

Presiding Judge Fajar Kusuma Aji established that Nurhadi was proven to have received gratification of IDR 137.16 billion from various parties and carried out TPPU amounting to IDR 308.04 billion by placing it in rupiah and foreign currency in several accounts.

"Declaring the defendant to be proven legally and guilty of committing the corruption crime, as charged by the first public prosecutor," he said at the reading of the verdict by the panel of judges at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court, Wednesday, April 1, reported by ANTARA.

In addition to imprisonment, Nurhadi was also sentenced to a fine of Rp. 500 million with the provision that if it is not paid, it will be replaced (subsider) with a prison sentence of 140 days.

The panel of judges also sentenced Nurhadi to an additional penalty in the form of payment of compensation in the amount of the amount of gratification received, namely IDR 137.16 billion, a sub-sentence of imprisonment for 3 years.

For his actions, Nurhadi was found guilty of violating Article 12B in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes as amended and supplemented by Law Number 20 of 2001 and Article 3 of Law Number 8 of 2010 concerning the Prevention and Eradication of Money Laundering Crimes jo. Article 65 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.

The judge's decision was lighter than the prosecutor's demand. Previously, Nurhadi was sentenced to 7 years in prison.

However, the other sentences imposed remain the same, namely a fine of Rp500 million subsider a prison sentence of 140 days, as well as the payment of compensation in the amount of Rp137.16 billion subsider 3 years in prison.

On March 10, 2021, the panel of judges of the Jakarta Corruption Court also sentenced Nurhadi to 6 years in prison plus a fine of Rp. 500 million with a 3-month subsider.

The panel of judges stated that Nurhadi was proven to have received bribes amounting to Rp35.73 billion and gratification from a number of parties amounting to Rp13.79 billion.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) then executed Nurhadi to the Sukamiskin Class I Penitentiary, Bandung, West Java, on January 7, 2022.

After that, the KPK detained Nurhadi again after the person concerned was conditionally released from Sukamiskin Prison. The detention was carried out by the KPK on June 29, 2025 related to this gratification and TPPU case.
