TNI Gives Extraordinary Rank Increase to Soldiers Killed in Lebanon
JAKARTA - The Indonesian National Army (TNI) has given extraordinary military operations promotions in addition to posthumous war to three prajurits who died while carrying out a peace mission in Lebanon and compensation for their families.
The three soldiers, namely Captain of the Infantry Zulmi Aditya Iskandar, Sergeant First Class Muhammad Nur Ikhwan, and Head Soldier Farizal Rhomadhon.
"The three soldiers who died received an extraordinary military operation rank in addition to the posthumous war, the Dag Hammarskjold Medal award," said TNI Commander General TNI Agus Subiyanto as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, April 1.
In addition, the families of the fallen soldiers receive compensation rights from the TNI and the United Nations (UN).
The number of compensation includes education scholarships for children of fallen soldiers and various other soldier rights.
The commander explained that Captain Infantry Zulmi Aditya Iskandar received compensation of IDR 1,894,688,236, Sertu Muhammad Nur Ikhwan IDR 1,846,309,049, and Praka Farizal Rhomadhon IDR 1,854,075,205.
"The family also receives a lump sum salary for 12 months consisting of basic salary, ULP, and post allowance as well as widow's pension after the lump sum salary is paid," explained the commander.
Agus hopes that the compensation provided can ease the burden on the economy of the three soldiers' families.
Until now, the TNI Headquarters has not been able to confirm the party that carried out the attack and its motives. The TNI is still waiting for the results of the investigation from the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) regarding this matter.
Previously, three TNI personnel who were part of the UNIFIL mission were killed while on duty in Lebanon in March 2026.
Based on TNI data, Fahrizal died as a result of an indirect artillery attack near Adchit Al Qusayr, southern Lebanon, Sunday (29/3). Meanwhile, Nur Ichwan and Zulmi died due to vehicle explosions near Bani Haiyyan, Monday (30/3).
