Two TNI Soldiers Victims of Explosion during a Convoy are Treated at Beirut Hospital

JAKARTA - The Head of the Information Center (Kapuspen) of the TNI Headquarters, Major General TNI Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, confirmed that two TNI soldiers who were injured by an explosion while carrying out a mission to escort a UNIFIL convoy vehicle in South Lebanon had been treated at a hospital in the Beirut region.

"Two soldiers were injured, namely Lieutenant Inf Sulthan Wirdean Maulana and Praka Deni Rianto, who have been evacuated and are undergoing medical treatment at St. George Hospital in Beirut, Lebanon," said Aulia as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, April 1.

However, Aulia did not explain in detail about the injuries suffered by the two TNI soldiers.

He only ensured that his party would continue to monitor the condition of all TNI soldiers who were injured in Lebanon and would take further steps to ensure their safety.

To note, two TNI soldiers, namely Captain (Inf) Zulmi Aditya Iskandar and Sertu Muhammad Nur Ichwan were declared dead in the UNIFIL vehicle escort mission.

Aulia explained that it all started when TNI soldiers, namely the Escort Team of B Company of the Yonmek XXIII-S/UNIFIL Task Force, which was part of the East Mobile Reserve (SEMR), escorted a convoy of UNIFIL vehicles in the South Lebanon region, Monday (30/3).

The TNI personnel escorted the vehicle from the East Sector Mako UNIFIL United Nations Post (UNP) 7-2 to the Mako Task Force Yonmek TNI Konga XXIII-S/UNIFIL at UNP 7-1.

"The incident occurred amid a high escalation of the conflict, where an explosion on a vehicle resulted in the deaths of two TNI soldiers," said Aulia.

As a result, two TNI soldiers were declared dead and two others were injured as a result of the incident.

Aulia ensured that the TNI would wait for the results of the investigation from UNIFIL to reveal the cause of the explosion.

"To find out the cause of the incident, UNIFIL is currently conducting an investigation, the TNI is also continuing to monitor the development of the situation and preparing contingency measures in the face of the dynamics in the Lebanon Mission Area," said Aulia.

With this event, a total of three TNI soldiers were killed while carrying out humanitarian missions in Lebanon.
