Fuel Prices Will Not Rise, Commission VI of the DPR: Safe Stock, People Do Not Have to Queue
JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Andre Rosiade, appreciates the government's policy of not raising the price of fuel oil (BBM) which is rumored to occur on April 1, 2026. According to him, this policy is proof that President Prabowo Subianto is very ready to face the global geopolitical situation so that the public does not need to worry about panic buying.
"We really appreciate it, especially we all know that there are 85 countries in various regions of the world that have raised fuel prices, even our neighbors in Southeast Asia have raised fuel prices. But Indonesia has not raised fuel prices. There is no adjustment," said Andre at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, April 1.
"So the public doesn't have to worry, don't have to queue for fuel at gas stations because first there is no increase in fuel and second the stock is safe," continued the Gerindra legislator.
As a partner of Pertamina, Andre said, Commission VI of the DPR continues to coordinate to ensure and secure fuel stocks throughout Indonesia. According to him, fuel stocks for now are still safe.
In addition, said Andre, the government has also not issued a policy on restrictions on the purchase of fuel. He said that it was only a plan as part of efficiency.
"Well, we will wait for the scheme later between the government, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and Pertamina. What is clear is that we in the DPR will certainly support the government's steps," said Andre.
Previously, the Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi stated that the government ensured that the price of fuel oil (BBM), both subsidized and non-subsidized, did not increase.
Prasetyo said the decision was taken after the government coordinated with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) and PT Pertamina, in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto's instructions.
"The President always puts the interests of the people and the interests of the community in making a decision. That is why Pertamina states that Pertamina will not adjust the price of both subsidized and non-subsidized fuels," said Prasetyo in his statement Tuesday, March 31.
