Commission II of the DPR asks for ASN WFH policy every Friday to be closely monitored

Member of Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Indrajaya, responded to the government's official policy of working from home or work from home (WFH) for state civil servants (ASN) every Friday. He reminded that the policy must be accompanied by strict supervision so that its implementation runs in accordance with the goal of increasing the performance and efficiency of ASN work.

"This WFH policy must be monitored seriously. ASN must really carry out their duties from home, not just take advantage of that time for other activities outside of work," said Indrajaya to reporters, Wednesday, April 1.

He also reminded that there should be no abuse of policies, such as WFH used for walks or other activities that are not related to duties and responsibilities as ASN.

Indrajaya proposed that every ASN who carries out WFH must still be contactable during working hours. One step that can be implemented is to ensure that communication devices are active.

"Every ASN who WFH must always turn on the cellphone during working hours, so that their whereabouts can be monitored through the geolocation system. This is important to ensure that discipline and accountability are maintained," he said.

According to him, with optimal supervision and utilization of technology, the WFH policy can run effectively without reducing the quality of public services.

"We hope that the government can prepare a periodic evaluation mechanism to assess the effectiveness of this policy and ensure that there is no decrease in productivity among ASN," he concluded.

As reported, this WFH policy is regulated in the Circular Letter (SE) of the Minister of State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform and the Minister of Home Affairs.

This policy was made in order to save money in response to the high world oil prices due to the war in the Middle East. The government has conducted in-depth studies before setting the WFH policy.
