Thanks to Smart Eco-Factory, GAC Group Only Takes 53 Seconds to Make 1 Car
JAKARTA - GAC Group continues to encourage innovation in the automotive manufacturing sector through the presence of Smart Eco-Factory, a smart production facility that is capable of assembling one vehicle in just 53 seconds. This factory is designed with an integrated digitization concept, so that every production process runs more adaptively and efficiently.
Flexibility is one of the main advantages of this facility. In one production line, the Smart Eco-Factory is capable of handling up to 10 vehicle models simultaneously, with support for more than 100,000 configuration combinations.
This allows each customer order to be fulfilled specifically without disrupting the efficiency of mass production. The entire production process runs through a data-based management system that is connected in real-time, from the ordering stage to the vehicle leaving the production line.
To support this, GAC operates more than 600 industrial robots combined with artificial intelligence (AI) based visual inspection technology. This allows the inspection process to be carried out quickly and accurately to the millimeter scale.
Not only that, this manufacturer also applies a number of advanced manufacturing technologies such as spiral laser welding, integrated hot forming, and smart torque management systems. The application of these technologies ensures that vehicle quality remains consistent, even allowing performance tracking throughout its life.
In its official statement, Wednesday, April 1, GAC said that every vehicle must pass a series of extreme tests to ensure reliability in various conditions. Testing is carried out at high temperatures of up to 60°C, low temperatures of up to -40°C, and in highland areas above 4,000 meters.
On the other hand, sustainability is also a major concern in the operation of this factory. Smart Eco-Factory adopts an integrated energy system that includes solar power plants, energy storage, and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology.
Thanks to the use of renewable energy, this facility is able to generate more than 20 million kWh of electricity per year, or about 50 percent of the total operational needs. This approach not only improves energy efficiency, but also contributes to significantly reducing carbon emissions.
