Rupiah has the potential to strengthen in the midst of hopes for de-escalation of the Middle East conflict
JAKARTA - The rupiah exchange rate on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 is expected to strengthen against the US dollar.
To note, quoting Bloomberg, on Tuesday, March 31, the spot rupiah exchange rate closed down 0.23 percent to Rp17,041 per US dollar.
Meanwhile, the Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate (Jisdor) exchange rate of the Bank Indonesia (BI) closed down 0.03 percent to the price level of Rp16,999 per US dollar.
Doo Financial Futures analyst Lukman Leong, predicts that the rupiah exchange rate will strengthen against the US dollar as risk-on sentiment increases, driven by expectations of de-escalation of the conflict in the Middle East.
"The rupiah is expected to strengthen against the US dollar amid risk-on sentiment by the hope of de-escalation of the war in the Middle East," he told VOI, Wednesday, April 1.
Lukman estimates that the movement of the rupiah on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 will be in the range of Rp16,950-Rp17,050 per US dollar.
