Bali Immigration Records 12,278 Passengers Affected by Middle East Conflict
DENPASAR - The Bali Provincial Directorate General of Immigration (Kanwil Ditjen) has recorded 12,278 international route passengers affected by the conflict in the Middle East (Timteng) from February 28 to March 30, 2026.
"We continue to coordinate with the Center and as long as the situation (conflict) is still ongoing, we will still implement this policy," said Head of the Bali Immigration Directorate General Office Felucia Sengky Ratna in Denpasar, Bali, Tuesday, as quoted by Antara.
He explained that some of the affected international passengers had returned to their countries due to changes in flight routes.
They chose to avoid transit routes in Doha, Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
To help facilitate the existence of those affected, his party has issued 682 people with a Forced State of Residence Permit (ITKT) issued by three Immigration offices, namely Ngurah Rai, Singaraja and Denpasar.
Meanwhile, as many as 242 foreign nationals were also released with fines exceeding their residence permits (overstay).
For information, foreign nationals who overstay less than 60 days are subject to a fine of IDR 1 million per day.
"We hope that the situation will improve as soon as possible because during the state of emergency and from the Center, it has not revoked the policy so that we in the region continue to implement it," he added.
His party has set up a post at the I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport and also formed a "pick-up ball" operation at two hotels that are the airline's reference if their flights are canceled.
As for foreign nationals who take care of ITKT, their permits can be issued within a day by attaching a passport, proof of flight ticket and a letter confirming the cancellation of the flight by the airline.
Currently, international flight activities from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, mainly to three cities in the UAE, have resumed.
However, the frequency of flights has not yet recovered with limited schedules because the conflict situation in the Middle East has not yet subsided since it first erupted on February 28, 2026.
