Government Claims It Can Save Rp59 Trillion from Fuel, Government Spending Cut Significantly
JAKARTA - The government claims that a new efficiency package can cut people's fuel spending by up to Rp59 trillion and save the state budget by Rp6.2 trillion. The claim was made by Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto when announcing a series of policies to anticipate global dynamics.
"The potential for savings from WFH directly to the state budget is IDR 6.2 trillion in the form of savings on fuel compensation, while the total spending on fuel for the community has the potential to be saved as well as IDR 59 trillion," said Airlangga in Seoul, South Korea, Tuesday, March 31.
The government does not stop at savings from work patterns. Airlangga said the country would also prioritize and refocus spending by ministries and agencies. The budget will be shifted from positions that are considered less priority, such as official travel, meetings, non-operational spending, and ceremonial activities, to spending that is considered more productive and has a direct impact on the community.
"The transfer of funds is carried out from less priority spending such as official travel, meetings, non-operational spending, and ceremonial activities to more productive spending and directly impacting the community," he said.
According to Airlangga, the potential for refocusing the budget of ministries and agencies is in the range of IDR 121.2 trillion to IDR 130.2 trillion. The government has also prepared the B50 policy starting July 1, 2026. Pertamina is said to be ready to carry out blending which is estimated to be able to reduce the use of fossil fuels by 4 million kiloliters per year and generate savings of IDR 48 trillion.
