Transaction Breaks Rp67.5 Trillion, Pramono Claims Jakarta Moncer Economy during the Chinese New Year to Lebaran Period

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has recorded high economic turnover throughout the Chinese New Year to Eid al-Fitr 2026. The surge in public consumption can be seen from activities at shopping centers, tourist destinations, to the culinary sector.

The Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung said that one of the main drivers of the economic movement came from the Jakarta Festive Wonders (JFW) program which was held from March 4-31, 2026.

"Involving 101 shopping centers in Jakarta through thematic decorations and attractive discounts, this program generated a total transaction of Rp. 67.5 trillion. This is an extraordinary record," said Pramono at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday, March 31.

Apart from JFW, the DKI Provincial Government also noted the contribution from the "Mudik to Jakarta" program which was carried out through collaboration with a number of parties, such as airlines, train operators, and the hospitality sector. This program targets the movement of people after Lebaran to return to activities in Jakarta.

The program recorded transactions of more than Rp20 billion and was said to have a direct impact on increasing visits to shopping centers and tourist attractions in the capital.

Pramono said that the series of religious and national holidays in one period, ranging from Chinese New Year, Nyepi, Ramadan to Eid al-Fitr, had a layered effect on regional economic performance, especially on tax and toll receipts.

"The realization of regional tax revenue in the first quarter reached 100.28 percent or Rp7.3 trillion. Meanwhile, the realization of regional revenue collection is also in line with the target, namely Rp113.4 billion," said Pramono.

On the other hand, the DKI Provincial Government also anticipates potential disruptions to mobility, especially in the Tanjung Priok Port area which had previously experienced severe congestion after Lebaran.

As a preventive measure, the Provincial Government is working with PT Pelindo to prepare land measuring approximately five hectares at the Tanah Merdeka Terminal as a pocket for parking logistics vehicles. This land can accommodate up to 200 vehicles and is temporarily free of charge to relieve congestion.

"This policy was taken as a proactive step so that there is no accumulation of vehicles on the road as has happened before. Praise be to God, until now the activities at Tanjung Priok are running smoothly and normally," he added.
