The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Emphasizes that the Recurrence of a Despicable Attack on Indonesian Peacekeepers is Unacceptable
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns the attack that killed TNI soldiers who were on a peacekeeping mission under the United Nations flag in Lebanon, stressing that the recurrence of the incident was an unacceptable act.
Indonesia and the TNI mourned the news of the death and injury of its best soldiers while on duty in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) mission in southern Lebanon in two separate attacks.
"The Government of the Republic of Indonesia condemns in the strongest terms the second attack that occurred in succession near Bani Haiyyan, southern Lebanon, on March 30, 2026, which hit Indonesian peacekeepers serving under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), which resulted in the death of two personnel and injured two others," the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote in a post on social media X, Tuesday (31/3).
"The recurrence of a heinous attack against Indonesian peacekeepers in a short time is an action that is completely unacceptable," said the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In the Sunday attack, Praka Farizal Rhomadhon was killed, while three of his colleagues, Praka Rico Pramudia, Praka Bayu Prakoso and Praka Arif Kurniawan were injured.
In the next 24 hours, two TNI soldiers on behalf of Captain Inf Zulmi Aditya Iskandar and Sertu Muhammad Nur Ichwan were killed in the Monday attack. Meanwhile, two others, Lettu Inf Sulthan Wirdean Maulana and Praka Deni Rianto were injured.
"This attack cannot be seen as a separate incident, but rather reflects the deteriorating security situation in southern Lebanon, where ongoing Israeli military operations have put United Nations peacekeepers in a very serious risk," the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained.
"Indonesia continues to strongly condemn Israel's attacks in southern Lebanon, which significantly increase the risks faced by UN peacekeepers and undermine the implementation of the UNIFIL mandate as stipulated in Security Council Resolution 1701 (2006)," the statement said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "Indonesia is again mourning the death of the peacekeepers and expressing solidarity with the families left behind, as well as praying for a quick recovery for the injured personnel."
"The safety and security of UN peacekeepers cannot be negotiated. Any action that endangers them is a serious violation of international law and must not be left without accountability," said the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Regarding these two incidents, "Indonesia calls for an immediate, thorough, and transparent investigation to uncover the facts, including the chronology of events and the parties responsible, and emphasizes that full accountability must be enforced," said the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
