PU Ministry of Education Issues Two Prabowo Instructions: Improvement of Regional Road Infrastructure for People's Schools

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) continues to strive to complete the acceleration program for development in the 2025 Presidential Instruction (Inpres).

Through the presidential decree, President Prabowo Subianto encouraged the acceleration of cross-sectoral development to strengthen food security, education and national connectivity can be completed by 2026.

The development of the project in accordance with the presidential decree includes accelerating irrigation networks, rehabilitating religious schools, building People's Schools (SR), improving regional road infrastructure, to the development of the National Food, Energy and Water Self-sufficiency Area (KSPEAN). All of these programs are aimed at strengthening basic services for the community.

First, Presidential Decree Number 2 of 2025 concerning the Acceleration of Development, Improvement, Rehabilitation, and Operation and Maintenance of Irrigation Networks to Support Food Self-sufficiency, in which the President targets this development to reach 500,000 hectares (ha) by 2026.

"The target for handling the Irrigation Presidential Decree (Presidential Decree Number 2 of 2025) is 500,000 ha in 2026," the Ministry of PU wrote on its official Instagram @kementerianpu, quoted Tuesday, March 31.

Then, Presidential Decree Number 7 of 2025, namely regarding the Acceleration of the Implementation of the Development and Revitalization Program for Early Childhood Education Units, Basic Education and Secondary Education, the Development and Management of Secondary Schools on Garuda Excellence and Digitalization of Learning.

In the presidential decree, the Ministry of PU targets the rehabilitation of religious schools in 2026 to reach 1,000 new schools.

"The target for the rehabilitation of religious schools is 1,000 units," he added.

Meanwhile, Presidential Decree Number 8 of 2025 concerning the Optimization of the Implementation of Poverty Alleviation and the Elimination of Extreme Poverty, to fulfill the decree, the PU Ministry targets 204 units of People's Schools will be built this year.

Furthermore, Presidential Decree Number 11 of 2025 concerning the Acceleration of Improvement of Regional Road Connectivity to Support Food and Energy Self-sufficiency. In the decree, the PU Ministry targets to be able to increase roads along 2,191 kilometers (km), the construction of regional roads along 231 km and the construction of bridges along 589 meters.

Finally, in fulfilling Presidential Decree Number 14 of 2025 concerning the Acceleration of the Development of National Food, Energy and Water Self-sufficient Areas, the PU Ministry targets the construction of a flood control system of 7,503 hectares (ha) in 2026, from the overall target of 10,000 ha, the construction of a swamp irrigation network of 7,483 ha this year from the overall target of 10,000 ha, the opening of access roads along 138.5 km and the construction of aggregate foundation layers along 51.3 km.

"This step is part of efforts to build a more independent, connected and sustainable region," he added.
