JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto was officially welcomed by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi at the Akasaka Palace, Tokyo, Tuesday, March 31, 2026. This agenda is the opening of the Indonesia-Japan bilateral meeting, which takes place in the middle of the need for both countries to maintain close relations.

Prabowo arrived at the Akasaka Palace and was greeted directly by Takaichi. After the photo session, the two headed to the Hagoromo-no-ma room, where the official welcoming ceremony was held. Delegations from Indonesia and Japan were waiting in the room.

In his remarks, Takaichi welcomed Prabowo and the Indonesian delegation. "Mr. President Prabowo Subianto and all delegations from the Republic of Indonesia, welcome to Japan. I am very happy to meet again with Your Excellency," said Takaichi.

Prabowo responded to the greeting by expressing his gratitude to the Japanese government. He also mentioned his meeting with the Emperor of Japan the day before. "I would like to express my deepest gratitude for the warm welcome from His Majesty, from the Government of Japan. I was also very well received by His Majesty Emperor Naruhito yesterday," said Prabowo.

After the bilateral meeting, Prabowo and Takaichi are scheduled to deliver a joint press statement in the Sairan-no-ma room. After that, the two will attend an official lunch.
