Kontras asks the President to form a joint fact-finding team for the case of spraying hard water on Andrie Yunus

JAKARTA - The Coordinator of the Kontras Workers Agency, Dimas Bagus Arya, asked Commission III of the DPR to encourage President Prabowo Subianto to form a joint fact-finding team for the case of hard water spraying against the Deputy Coordinator for External Affairs of Kontras, Andrie Yunus by four members of the BAIS TNI.

This was conveyed by Dimas in the RDP and RDPU of the House of Representatives, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, March 31.

"We ask that this forum can also encourage the President to be able to make political decisions, namely to form a joint fact-finding team," said Dimas.

"What is the reason? First we see that there are two obstacles here: formal legal obstacles, political obstacles. In this case, the victim factor is not only Andrie Yunus. We infer that the threat to Andrie Yunus, the attack on Andrie Yunus, can also be a domino effect in the future," he continued.

Dimas explained that the domino effect referred to as public works, human rights advocacy work, and work to improve the quality of democracy will still find intimidation and repression from parties that may never have a single frequency of thought with civil society.

Therefore, he hopes that the RDPU in Commission III of the DPR can produce a conclusion that leads to a decision to form a joint fact-finding team so that the case of pouring hard water against Andrie Yunus becomes clear and will not be repeated later.

"So we ask that this forum can also emphasize or produce a political decision to create a joint team to find independent facts that contain several experts, several law enforcement organs, and also civil society so that they can expose it openly," he said.

"Not only the field executor, the leadership, but also the intellectual actors and also the motive," continued Dimas.

Kontras also encourages the resolution of this case through the public justice mechanism instead of handing it over from the Polda Metro Jaya to the TNI Puspom. "As the argument I just said. I think I'm enough for that leadership," said Dimas.

Dimas admitted that he received a message from Andrie Yunus' parents who could not attend the public hearing in Commission III of the DPR, they expressed their gratitude for his attention and concern.

"Andrie's parents are originally from Lampung, Andrie is also a son of Lampung. So there is a term that Lampung people are lifebuoys to save democracy," he said.

"So I hope this can also be a stimulus and also an attention not only for the leadership of Commission III, but also for all members of Commission III from various existing factions," concluded Dimas.
