Honda 0 Alpha Electric SUV Has the Chance to Enter Indonesia? This is What HPM Says

JAKARTA - Honda 0 Alpha immediately caught the attention since it was first introduced. The discussion became more crowded after the electric SUV was caught on camera undergoing testing on the Indian highway, raising suspicions about expansion to various markets, including Indonesia.

This step is considered in line with Honda's strategy which has begun to aggressively strengthen its product line in the Asian region, especially in developing countries with similar market characteristics. Indonesia is also on the radar as one of the markets considered to be potential.

Sales & Marketing and After Sales Director of PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) Yusak Billy, emphasized that until now Honda 0 Alpha is still focused on certain markets.

"Honda 0 Alpha was indeed developed for the market in India. Until now, there is no planning to introduce it here," said Billy when met in North Jakarta, Monday, March 30.

Although it is not yet in the plan, the opportunity for its presence in the country remains open. According to Billy, the decision can change depending on the needs and interests of Indonesian consumers.

"But if the consumer really needs it and wants it to be introduced here, we will be able to develop it to be introduced in Indonesia," he said.

The Honda 0 Alpha was developed as an SUV with a relatively compact size. The design carries a new approach that looks modern, especially on the C-pillar which is made to rise upwards so that it produces a more firm and different rear shape than most SUVs.

In addition, this car still maintains the SUV character through high ground clearance. However, the body proportions are designed to be slimmer, creating a stylish and dynamic impression.

The appearance of this model in India strengthens the indication that Honda is preparing a new vehicle for the emerging market. The character is considered in line with the needs of the Indonesian market which continues to grow.

Based on various information circulating, the Honda 0 Alpha is expected to start production in 2027. If it is true that it will enter Indonesia, this model has the potential to fill the niche of compact SUVs that are on the rise, while enriching Honda's electric vehicle lineup in the domestic market.
