Prabowo's message to Japanese entrepreneurs: If there are complaints in Indonesia, report to me!

JAKARTA - The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, conveyed the government's strong commitment to creating an open, responsive, and upholding the rule of law investment climate for investors, especially from Japan.

In a meeting with Japanese entrepreneurs at the Indonesia-Japan Business Forum in Tokyo, Japan, Monday, March 30, President Prabowo explicitly invited Japanese entrepreneurs to directly report on various obstacles faced during investment in Indonesia to him.

"If you have a problem, you can directly complain to me. You can directly complain to me, through your ambassador, through your representative, through MITI or JETRO or whatever, Keidanren. I am willing to accept complaints," said Prabowo.

The President emphasized that he adopted a proactive leadership approach and directly involved himself in solving problems on the ground.

He even called the role of the modern president as the CEO of the country who must be able to respond to problems quickly and appropriately.

"A modern president, basically, is the CEO of this country. He must be able to know the problem very quickly and solve it very quickly," he said.

To strengthen this response, the government has formed a special task force tasked with removing investment barriers or de-bottlenecking task force.

This task force is functional to handle various problems, such as administrative delays to practices that harm investors.

"Any company in Indonesia, both foreign and domestic, who feels that they are facing delays, administrative obstacles, and so on, or are experiencing exploitation or unfair treatment, can immediately contact this task force to remove obstacles," he explained.

Furthermore, Prabowo emphasized that the Indonesian government is committed to deregulating and simplifying various rules that are considered to hinder investment.

This step was taken in line with efforts to accelerate national economic growth amid increasingly tight global competition.

"We are trying to deregulate, get rid of regulations that are sometimes irrational. This is not an easy thing, but we are determined to simplify the process," said Prabowo.

On this occasion, the President also emphasized the importance of speed in making decisions and executing policies. He reminded that in the modern world, time is a crucial factor that cannot be negotiated.

"We can't buy time. We can't negotiate with time. We can't bargain with time. We can only use time efficiently," he said.

Prabowo also invited Japanese business actors to strengthen strategic partnerships with Indonesia by combining Japanese technology and experience as well as Indonesian resources and market potential.

"I believe that we must work together. We have been working together. The improvement of the Indonesia-Japan economic partnership agreement will open new opportunities. This is the right time to deepen our cooperation. We are ready and want to move forward," concluded Prabowo.
