Confrontation of the alleged sexual violence case at the Metro Jaya Police, three people were arrested.
JAKARTA - The process of confrontation between the suspects and witnesses in handling the case of alleged sexual violence at the Polda Metro Jaya was tense and had triggered a riot. Both parties are known to have come with a mass of supporters when the agenda of the examination was held, Thursday, March 26, 2026.
The situation heated up when the witnesses and suspects were met. The argument was inevitable until it ended in alleged persecution. Investigators who had anticipated the potential for friction immediately blocked and separated the two groups to prevent a wider clash. This step was successful in calming the situation.
Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, said the dynamics on the ground had been handled professionally.
"From the beginning we have anticipated the potential for friction because both parties are accompanied. Investigators immediately took firm steps by separating the two parties so that the situation remained under control," said Budi in Jakarta, Monday, March 30, 2026.
Information collected indicates that the tension was not only triggered by the matter that was being confronted, but also other issues outside the case.
"One party is suspected of having another conflict with the suspect who also stirs emotions," he said.
Following up on the incident, the Subdit Jatanras Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya moved quickly and has arrested three perpetrators of persecution to be processed in accordance with applicable laws.
"This step is part of the commitment of the Metro Jaya Police in taking firm action against every criminal act and maintaining a safe and conducive kamtibmas situation," he said.
Despite being colored by tension, the examination continued with adjustments to the mechanism. The victim refused to face the suspect directly, so the investigators implemented a separate examination to maintain the security and comfort of all parties.
"We ensure that the handling of this case continues to be professional, proportional, and measured, while still prioritizing the protection of victims and maintaining the kamtibmas situation," said Budi.
