YouTube Comes to Android Auto, but Not in the Form of an App
Google has launched a small update by adding YouTube to Android Auto. However, the video streaming platform is not present in the form of a standalone application.
YouTube is only added as a media control. Some users on Reddit, launching from Android Authority, said they saw the YouTube media control in the place they usually use to play music.
That way, this feature is not an experience of watching YouTube videos for Android embedded in the car. Users can only perform basic actions such as playing, pausing, and skipping the order of content through the dashboard screen.
This feature works like a basic audio control that is directly connected to YouTube playback on the user's phone. Although it has been seen by some users, this feature is still not available to the public.
This media control is very useful for users who like to listen to podcasts or long-running videos. They no longer have to bother taking out their phone just to change the video that is being listened to while driving.
To enjoy this feature, users must subscribe to YouTube Premium because the background playback feature only works in the package. The cheaper Premium Lite package also supports this ability.
Meanwhile, Google is still developing the ability to play video apps on Android Auto. Recent code evidence shows that the development of the feature is still underway and Google will ensure the security of the application during driving before it is officially released.
