Iran Condemns Israel, Expresses Grief over the Death of UNIFIL TNI Personnel in Lebanon

JAKARTA - Iran expressed its condolences for the death of Indonesian soldiers serving in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in an Israeli attack near Adchit Al Qusayr, Lebanon on Sunday night, March 29.

The condolences were conveyed by the Iranian Embassy to Indonesia through its statement on its social media account, Monday afternoon, March 30.

"The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran expresses its deepest condolences to the Government and people of Indonesia for the tragic loss of an Indonesian peacekeeper serving under UNIFIL," said the Iranian Embassy statement to Indonesia.

The Iranian embassy also condemned Israel's military operations in southern Lebanon, which often violated international law and injured UN peacekeepers on duty.

"We strongly condemn this heinous act, which is a direct consequence of Israel's continued aggression, carried out with the full involvement and support of the US," the embassy wrote.

The Iranian embassy also urged that Israel's actions that violate potential international humanitarian law generate impunity and human rights violations to be investigated to the fullest.

"Targeting peacekeepers is a grave violation of international law and must not go unpunished," the statement said.
