Idea and Video Editing are Worth Zero Rupiah, Democrats: Insult to the Creative Worker Profession

Member of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the Democratic Faction, Hinca Panjaitan criticized the allegations of the public prosecutor (JPU) regarding the inflation of prices (markup) in the creation of village profile videos by assessing the ideas, concepts, editing and a number of other items should be worth Rp0.

According to Hinca, the assessment is an insult to the profession for young Indonesian creative economy workers.

"I try to accompany this Brother Proverbs, because this is very serious and important for us to pay attention. The point is that we want to ensure that consciously the creative works today are an inevitability that exists for our young people. I read slowly about the demands and accusations that if made simply by the JPU, are an appreciation of the creativity of these young people. It was mentioned that there were five items, for example, the concept of ideas was not valued, it was immediately given a zero value. Editing was given a zero value. The microphone that we usually use is also rated zero. This is a crime for me," said Hinca at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, March 30.

"This is an insult to the profession of our young people, who are actually ensured by President Prabowo Subianto that there is a special minister, namely the Minister of Creative Economy. And we continue to fight to explain how the state gets our creative economy from these young people. But then something happens that we think is the time for us to give our input and views," he continued.

It is known that the case of videographer Amsal Sitepu in Karo, North Sumatra, has come under the spotlight because the prosecutor considers the cost of ideas, concepts, cutting, editing, and dubbing the village profile video to be zero rupiah. Amsal is charged with 2 years in prison for allegedly marking up Rp202 million, but he strongly denied it because he considered the creative process to be a professional job.

With this case, Hinca admitted that he was worried that the creative economy in Indonesia would no longer be appreciated. He said that Indonesian young people were losing their future, especially those who had very noble intentions to advance their village, Tanah Karo Simalem to advance through the media.

"Giving zero value to the creativity of these young people for me we have to straighten it out. We want to ask Kajari Karo and his JPU and law enforcement parties in the Karo District Court to evaluate so that they do not repeat things like this," said Hinca.

Hinca asked the Attorney General's Office to immediately withdraw the prosecutors and Kajari at the Medan PN. "Because if it's like this, then we are actually trying young people who have creativity in the future, who don't have mens rea, who don't have bad intentions to commit corruption, let alone harm the state's finances. He just wants to advance his village," he explained.

"So this is ironic. If we count it was only Rp5.9 million in one village. It's very small and the prosecutor asked for zero, and that's because it was referred to the Karo Inspectorate. I think this is a mistake, a fatal mistake for us to straighten out. Later, if someone works like that, just do it, then it will be said that the value is zero. If in Medan it is called 2M, the name of 2M means 'Thank you Mas'. If that happens, then the future of young people in Indonesia will have no future anymore," he added.
