Veda Ega and Mario Aji Crash at the 2026 United States Grand Prix
JAKARTA - Veda Ega Pratama and Mario Suryo Aji both had accidents in the 2026 United States Moto3 and Moto2 Grand Prix races so they couldn't finish the race and failed to bring home points.
The 2026 United States Grand Prix takes place at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA), Texas, on Monday, March 30, 2026, early morning WIB. Both young riders have a great opportunity to be able to grab points, but failed to do so.
The biggest chance to get on the podium actually belongs to Veda Ega. He started the 2026 United States Moto3 race from fourth place after performing competitively in the Qualifying session, but bad luck befell him in his main race.
The racer born in Wonosari had dropped to eighth place and rose to the fastest lap time on lap 4. However, he suffered a highside on the next lap when he came out of Turn 11 so he couldn't continue the race.
"This race is very difficult for me because from the beginning there were many aggressive fights in the group and it was not easy to control everything," said Veda Ega in a Honda Team Asia official release.
The result made Veda fail to score points in three consecutive races. The 17-year-old racer previously sat in third place in the rider standings after finishing fifth in Thailand and third in Brazil.
The first position of the 2026 Moto3 United States is occupied by Guido Pini (Leopard Racing), the second place is secured by Maximo Quiles (CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team), and the third is occupied by Alvaro Carpe (Red Bull KTM Ajo).
Meanwhile, Mario Aji failed to finish in the 2026 United States Moto2 Grand Prix due to falling in the last two laps. The 22-year-old racer survived quite a long time in the points zone before having an accident.
The failure to finish the race made Mario Aji fall in the Moto2 standings. The Magetan-born racer is now in 19th place with the three points he got from the Brazilian Grand Prix last week.
