GAC-Toyota bZ7 Electric Sedan Sold Out 3,000 Units in an Hour
JAKARTA - GAC-Toyota officially introduced their latest pure electric sedan, bZ7, which immediately caught the attention of the market. This car comes in five variants with a subsidized price tag starting at 147,800 yuan, or around Rp362 million.
This car carries the latest technology such as the Huawei HarmonyOS 5.0 cockpit, Momenta R6 driving assistance system, and Huawei Drive ONE electric motor. Reported from Carnewschina, Monday, March 30, the bZ7 immediately recorded more than 3,100 orders in the first hour since launch.
bZ7 is available in several mileage options based on the CLTC standard, namely 600 km, 700 km, to 710 km. This model was previously introduced at the Shanghai Auto Show last year and had entered the pre-sale stage earlier this month.
The manufacturer ensures that its units are ready to be sent to consumers in the near future. In appearance, the bZ7 carries GAC-Toyota's signature design language with a modern touch.
The front looks futuristic with horizontal LED light lines and C-shaped daytime running lights, combined with sharp headlights and a large-sized lower grille. The silhouette of the body adopts the fastback coupe style from the C pillar to the back, reinforced with semi-hidden door handles.
At the back, the LED lights blend in to give the impression of being in harmony with the front design. The dimensions of this car are quite large with a length of 5,130 mm, a width of 1,965 mm, and a height of 1,506 mm, and the wheelbase reaches 3,020 mm.
All variants are equipped with 20-inch rims, while the exterior color options are available in seven different options. Entering the cabin, comfort is one of the main focuses.
Both the front and rear seats are equipped with ventilation, heating, and massage features. Specifically for the front seat, there is a dual motorized zero-gravity design that is designed to increase comfort during long journeys.
In terms of technology, the bZ7 relies on the Huawei HarmonyOS 5.0 smart cockpit system which also supports Apple CarPlay connectivity. The large model-based sound system MoLA Huawei allows voice recognition for up to four zones, continuous conversations, and execution of multiple commands at once.
Despite being all digital, the important physical buttons are still maintained. Interestingly, this car is also integrated with the Xiaomi ecosystem through the Mi Home application and support for a magnetic Bluetooth button that will be available in the future. In addition, a Huawei StarFlash digital key is also available.
For safety and driving assistance features, the bZ7 is equipped with the Momenta R6 ADAS system. In the variant with LiDAR, this car carries a total of 27 sensors, consisting of one LiDAR, five millimeter wave radars, eleven high-resolution cameras, and ten ultrasonic radars.
This system supports the Highway NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) feature, driving navigation in urban areas, to automatic parking in various conditions without additional subscription fees. The performance of the bZ7 is supported by the Huawei Drive ONE electric motor with a peak power of 207 kW (278 hp) and efficiency of up to 97.5 percent.
Its energy source comes from a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery with two capacity options, namely 71.35 kWh and 88.13 kWh, which can provide a range of up to 710 km. The 3C fast charging feature allows an additional 300 km in just 10 minutes, and an external power supply function of 6.6 kW is available.
The foot sector is also taken care of through the use of double-chamber air suspension, SDC shock absorbers, and a road pre-scanning system. This technology allows the car to read the road conditions in front and adjust the suspension automatically to improve driving comfort.
Vice President of Sales of GAC Toyota Peng Baolin, revealed that bZ7 managed to collect more than 3,100 confirmed orders in just one hour after its official launch. This figure is a strong signal of high consumer interest in the latest electric sedan.
