West Coast Producer DJ Dan Confirmed Dead

JAKARTA - Producer and well-known disc jockey, Daniel Wherrett or DJ Dan, was announced dead. The news was also confirmed by the artist's representative via Billboard on Saturday, March 29.

However, so far it is not known what caused the death of the legendary DJ from the West Coast. Even his real age is not known exactly, ranging from 55-57 years.

DJ Dan was scheduled to perform at Dead Ringer, Nevada on March 28. However, the musician did not come to the venue and the event was canceled by the organizers.

They said the DJ could not be contacted, and it was estimated that at that time he had died. However, there has been no official statement regarding the details of his death.

"With deep sadness, great admiration, and a sense of gratitude and everlasting love, we announce the passing of Daniel Wherrett - known professionally as DJ Dan - one of the most beloved, genre-defying, and truly influential pioneers in the history of American electronic music," a statement read.

"He left behind not only a discography, but also a culture - a way of feeling music that touched millions of souls for four decades and five continents. He often said that his life's goal was to 'heal through music'," he said.

DJ Dan recorded a number of popular dance hits throughout his career, including That Phone Track in 2004. The song became his biggest hit by occupying the Billboard club track chart. His work entitled Stereo (2011) is also one of the top dance albums on the best dance album chart.
