Against the Changes of Time, the National Police Builds a Social Science Laboratory at Akpol

SEMARANG - The National Police Headquarters of the Republic of Indonesia (Polri) does not want to be left behind in responding quickly to changes in the world. Concrete steps are taken by building a Police Science Social Laboratory at the Police Academy (Akpol) complex, Lemdiklat Polri, Semarang, Central Java.

This facility is not just an ordinary building, but a cutting-edge research center to produce a police model that is truly precise and no longer based on mere hearsay.

Wakapolri Komjen Pol. Dedi Prasetyo menegaskan bahwa pembangunan laboratorium ini adalah jawaban Polri atas hantaman revolusi digital, liarnya dinamika geopolitik global, hingga transformasi sosial yang kian kompleks.

According to the three-star general, changes in society today are very fast and difficult to predict. Therefore, the Bhayangkara Corps does not want to dwell on outdated theories and chooses to develop a proven approach directly through social reality in the field.

This laboratory is designed as an integrative space that "marries" academic theory with real-world practice. With the support of a data-driven approach, sharp scientific analysis, to simulations of factual conditions, this facility will be a candradimuka crater to test various policing models.

Hopefully, every policy and action taken by officers in the field will later be born from the womb of mature research, not just a spontaneous response without a basis.

Moreover, this research facility is projected to be able to strengthen the task of maintaining public security and order (harkamtibmas) with a more adaptive, predictive, and evidence-based policing style.

Dedi said that this laboratory is not only a technical experimental space, but also a learning vehicle to shape the character of the police personnel who are superior and agile in serving the community in the midst of the onslaught of time.

This strategic step is also part of the Polri's great effort to glorify the police profession through strengthening the academic foundation. With strong research, the National Police is committed to presenting a police practice that is much more scientific, transparent, and accountable.

In the future, every movement of the Polri personnel is expected to be more professional because it is driven by data and studies that can be publicly accountable to the public.
