Still Receiving Reports of Government Cars for Eid, KPK Asks Regional Heads to Conduct Evaluations

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) asks regional heads to evaluate the misuse of official vehicles during the 1447 Hijri Eid al-Fitr homecoming season.

KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo said this request arose because there were still official cars used for purposes outside work. This was known from reports that came to his agency.

"KPK has received information that there is still misuse of official vehicles in a number of institutions for personal and non-official purposes. For this reason, we urge regional heads and inspectors to immediately conduct a thorough evaluation of the misuse of official vehicles in their environment," said Budi through a written statement quoted on Monday, March 30.

Budi said that this thorough evaluation is important to be carried out by regional heads and regional government inspectors. "To ensure that there is no misuse of state or regional facilities for personal interests, including in the Eid al-Fitr homecoming activities," he said.

In addition, this evaluation also serves to maintain the accountability and integrity of the State Organizer (PN) and the State Civil Apparatus (ASN).

"The KPK emphasizes that official vehicles, whether rented or in the status of BMN/BMD, are official facilities whose use is regulated only for the purpose of office or service operations. Given that any deviation has the potential to be a gateway to the occurrence of corrupt practices," said Budi.

"We encourage the active role of the regional inspectorate in carrying out internal supervision and audits, including tracking the use of official vehicles during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period. Strengthening this oversight function is key in ensuring compliance and preventing potential repeated violations," he continued.

Furthermore, Budi appreciated the ministries/institutions and local governments that continue to be proactive in mitigating and preventing potential corruption in their environment during the Lebaran moment.

Moreover, the anti-corruption commission has issued Circular Letter Number 2 of 2026 concerning the Control and Prevention of Holiday Gratification. "The KPK considers that the risk of corruption does not only arise from the abuse of authority or position, but can also be born from the abuse of state or regional facilities," he said.

"Practices that are often considered simple, such as the use of official vehicles for personal purposes, actually reflect conflicts of interest and can have an impact on state financial losses and reduce public confidence."
