It took 7 Hours and 50 Officers to Put Out a Great Fire at a Plastic Factory in Bogor

BOGOR - A number of Bogor Regency Fire and Rescue Service officers were exhausted after struggling to put out a fire at a plastic factory in Gunung Putri for about seven hours, Sunday, March 29.

Head of the Bogor Regency Fire and Rescue Service, Yudi Santosa, said the condition was due to the long duration of the extinguishing process and the heaviness of the terrain and the burning material.

According to him, several officers had received medical treatment on site, including breathing assistance using oxygen tubes. However, Yudi ensured that all officers were safe and could be handled well.

He explained that the new officers could rest and eat after the fire was successfully controlled at night.

"Alhamdulillah, finally the members can eat after seven hours of fighting with the fire," he said, as reported by Antara, Sunday, March 29.

The fire was reported at around 15.30 WIB and was successfully controlled at 22.10 WIB. After that, officers continued the cooling process to ensure that there were no remaining fire points.

In handling the fire, the Bogor Regency Damkar deployed 10 fire trucks, one Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), two rescue vehicles, and a number of ambulances from volunteers.

A total of 50 personnel were deployed to the location, assisted by volunteers, the TNI, the police, and Brimob to accelerate the fire and secure the area.

Yudi added that the main focus of the officers was to control the fire so that it did not spread, considering the flammable plastic material and the potential to produce thick smoke. He also said that the cause of the fire was still under investigation.
