Two Motorcyclists Missing After Being Dragged by the Cipendawa River, Cianjur

Cianjur - The joint officers of the Cianjur Police, West Java, are searching for two motorcycle riders with the license plate D 2613 KL who were carried away by the Cipendawa River after falling into a water channel on the Pasekon-Cipanas Highway, Sunday.

The head of the Cianjur Police Traffic Police, AKP Aang Andi Suhandi in Cianjur, Sunday, said the two people who were riding a motorcycle towards Bogor from Cianjur, fell because they ran over a puddle so they were dragged into the water channel.

When passing through heavy rain, causing a puddle to cover the road in the Puncak-Cipanas line, the driver allegedly lost control and was dragged into a water channel that was directly connected to the river.

"It's not a victim of an accident, but a motorcyclist carried away by the current after falling due to stepping on a deep puddle that is quite fast, from the afternoon to the evening, the Cianjur area was hit by heavy rain," he said.

The joint team consisting of TNI/Polri, BPBD Cianjur, Damkar Cianjur, and volunteers immediately carried out a search by going down the river from above and below to find the body of the victim who was reported missing by the current.

The search was hampered because the rainfall was still high, coupled with the river current being quite fast, and the location was dark, so his party made maximum efforts, including involving the surrounding residents in the hope that the victim could be found.

"Efforts to search are still being carried out despite being hampered by weather and strong currents, and the location is quite dark, making it difficult to see," he said.

Meanwhile, the testimony of eyewitnesses from the surrounding residents had seen a motorcycle being ridden by two people fall after hitting a puddle of water and being dragged into the water channel which is directly connected to the Cipendawa River.

Meanwhile, the victim's motorcycle overturned on the side of the water channel, so residents reported it to the police because the search efforts that had been carried out by residents had not produced results.

"Heavy rain made the runway flooded, causing one motorcycle to fall with the passenger position dragged into the water channel," said eyewitness Firman (41).
