KAI: Backflow at Daop 8 is still high, estimated at 52,409 passengers
SURABAYA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) stated that the return flow in the KAI Daop 8 Surabaya area is still high, which is estimated at 52,409 passengers using train services, including 29,346 passengers arriving and 23,063 passengers departing on March 29, 2026.
"The number is still potentially increasing as the departure and arrival schedule of trains continues until the evening," said KAI Public Relations Manager Daop 8 Surabaya Mahendro Trang Bawono in Surabaya, East Java, as quoted by Antara, Sunday.
The three stations with the highest passenger volume are Surabaya Gubeng Station with 16,294 passengers, including 6,584 boarding passengers and 9,710 passengers.
The Surabaya Pasarturi station had 15,104 passengers with 6,467 passengers boarding and 8,637 passengers getting off, and the Malang Station had 8,358 passengers with 2,836 passengers boarding and 5,522 passengers getting off.
During the 2026 Lebaran Transportation period from March 11-29, 2026, KAI Daop 8 Surabaya has served a total of 902,543 passengers consisting of 457,917 departing passengers and 444,626 arriving passengers.
Overall, during the 2026 Lebaran Transportation period, KAI Daop 8 Surabaya is projected to serve 990,294 passengers consisting of 497,008 departing passengers and 493,286 arriving passengers.
Meanwhile, the peak of the return flow occurred on March 24, 2026 with a service reaching 57,210 passengers consisting of 31,684 incoming passengers and 25,526 departing passengers.
To ensure that the journey remains smooth, KAI Daop 8 Surabaya appeals to customers not to come too close to the departure time and arrange their arrival at the station earlier to avoid the risk of missing the train.
In addition, customers are expected to always take care of and supervise their belongings, both while at the station and while traveling by train, for the sake of comfort and safety.
KAI also reminds customers to travel according to the relationship stated on the ticket and not exceed the relationship that has been determined, in order to maintain comfort, safety and order together.
