Shooting a Historical Film, Beby Tsabina and Samo Rafael Rela Tanning Kulit
JAKARTA - Actors Samo Rafael and Beby Tsabina are busy with their latest historical film project, Emmy, which will be produced by the production house Denny Siregar Production.
Taking the background of the past war, the two are required to make extra hard physical preparations because most of the shooting is done outdoors (exterior).
Samo Rafael admitted that he had to change his exercise routine to face the heavy shooting terrain.
"The preparation, honestly, this week I'm swimming, swimming, swimming. Because before I started shooting this, it was quite a bit of a mess, yeah," said Samo Rafael in South Jakarta, not long ago.
Not without reason, Samo realized that the natural conditions during filming would drain energy.
"Because the factor is quite important, because the shooting is exterior, we must fight the weather, we fight the physical because it turns out that we see a lot from the research of the location that there are many climbs. And it's the terrain that we have to pass every day, we have to be physically strong too," he added.
The same thing was also expressed by his co-star, Beby Tsabina. "In addition, it is also long. So, like Samo said, I also go to the gym once or twice to be strong, just run like that," said Beby.
The film's director, Emil, even warned the players about the conditions on the field.
"Yes, so that it will be stronger because Mr. Emil has warned it. Later the location will be like this, it's already a little bit of a look. It will be like this, we have several scenes that have to go up and down, up and down," said Beby, imitating the director's direction.
In addition to stamina, changes in appearance (looks) are also a concern, especially skin color. "My looks are more about knowing myself. Because it seems like I was too white back then. So I'm more into tanning," said Samo.
The actor doesn't want his appearance to look absurd on the screen. "Swimming while tanning so that it's a little more brown because it's impossible for us (in) the battlefield there we suddenly appear pale, so more tanning," Samo continued.
Beby Tsabina also briefly considered darkening her skin permanently during filming.
"I also, just yesterday, I was asked if I really wanted to be tanned or not, I just said that I had been tanning for a long time," he explained.
Fortunately, the production team had an alternative solution for the appearance of Emmy's character played by Beby.
"It just so happens that Mr. Emil said, it's okay to just make-up. It's just that maybe during the filming there I will be more free to sunbathe because it needs to be a little dark," said Beby.
Denny Siregar Production is back producing a film inspired by one of the Women Fighters, Emmy. The film Emmy is directed by Emil Heraldi and produced by Denny Siregar.
Starring famous actors/actresses including: Cut Beby Tsabina (Emmy), Samo Rafael (Bote), Aji Santosa (Johan), Moh. Iqbal Sulaiman (Katong), Dioren Jalu Permana (Lalo), Dito Darmawan (Maulwi), Tubagus Ali (Stefanus), Aksara Dena (Ranggong), Dinda Ghania (Upe), Vincent Fransiscus Verhaag (Westerling), Regina Suhari (Keke), Jesyca Marlein (Martha), Hans De Kraker (De Vries).
Through this film, Denny Siregar Production wants to present a story that is not only strong historically, but also emotional and close to current reality - about women, love, and big choices that determine the direction of the future.
Emmy's film is expected to be more than just entertainment, but also a reflection on the meaning of courage, sacrifice, and the true meaning of being a female fighter.
