Seskab Teddy Calls Monas Bazaar a Trade for MSMEs, Rp500 Thousand Coupons Not Just Aid
JAKARTA - Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya confirmed that the people's bazaar at Monas, Jakarta, Saturday, March 28, 2026, not only distributes shopping coupons to residents, but is also used to rotate the trade of small traders and MSMEs during the post-pandemic period.
According to the Secretary of the Cabinet, Teddy, the business actors involved came from a number of trade centers, such as Tanah Abang, Senen Market, Ular Market, to other markets in Jabodetabek. They were taken to the bazaar location to sell goods, then residents who came exchanged shopping coupons for available products.
"To revive MSMEs, traders. So there is Tanah Abang market, Senen Market, Ular Market, then several other markets in Jabodetabek. Through the Minister of MSMEs, Mr. Maman, brought here, they sell, we buy the goods, then the people who come are given free coupons, then they exchange the coupons," said Teddy.
He explained, one coupon worth Rp500 thousand was divided into two shopping posts. As much as Rp300 thousand was used for basic necessities, while Rp200 thousand could be exchanged for goods from MSMEs and small traders.
"So for the 1 coupon of 500 thousand, 300 ribunya is in the form of basic necessities, and 200 ribunya can be bought, exchanged for goods from MSMEs, small traders," he said.
The Secretary of State, Teddy, said that the concept of the bazaar was created so that as many residents as possible could feel the atmosphere of Lebaran, both those who did not go home and those who had returned from their hometowns.
"The point is, the concept is, as many people as possible want to feel the happiness of Eid, both those who cannot go home, and then those who have returned home, come here," he said.
Minister of MSME Maman Abdurrahman added that the bazaar also helped business actors spend old stocks while turning capital for new goods. He gave an example of traders from Tanah Abang, Senen Market, to shoe artisans from Bandung who felt the impact.
"This has an economic impact, like in Tanah Abang Market, and so on in Senen Market, and also several markets, some in Bandung, friends of the association of shoe craftsmen, and it also finally moves, because they can spend the stock that was still there yesterday, and they can also turn it again, buy again, there is with new stock," said Maman.
