Minister of Hajj Says Hajj Preparations Are Almost 100 Percent, Rp18 Trillion Fund is Controlled by the KPK to the Police
JOMBANG - Minister of Hajj and Umrah Mochamad Irfan Yusuf emphasized that the operational preparations for the departure of the 1447 H/2026 M Hajj pilgrims were almost complete and still running according to schedule. At the same time, he emphasized that the management of the Hajj fund worth Rp. 18 trillion must be strictly guarded so as not to open the gap for irregularities.
The statement was made by Irfan Yusuf when he met the East Java Provincial Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Regional Office. He assessed that East Java plays an important role because it is the province with the largest Hajj quota in Indonesia, making it a benchmark for the smooth running of the national Hajj.
"Operational preparations continue to be perfected and so far they are running according to the schedule that has been set. Our main focus is to ensure the safety and security of pilgrims through comprehensive mitigation measures," said Irfan Yusuf in Jombang, Friday, March 27, 2026.
He emphasized that the implementation of this year's hajj must be a picture of smooth, clean, and free public service. Therefore, budget supervision is a major concern, given that the hajj financial ecosystem reaches Rp. 18 trillion.
To oversee the process, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah involves professional elements from the Corruption Eradication Commission, the Prosecutor's Office, to the Police in procurement and budget management.
"The funds for Hajj that are managed are very large, so the commitment to clean governance is absolute. We want to ensure that every rupiah that is spent is actually returned in the form of the best service for pilgrims," he said.
Irfan Yusuf said that this step was a follow-up to the President of the Republic of Indonesia's direction that the Hajj service should be transparent and oriented towards the satisfaction of pilgrims. He also appreciated the ranks of the East Java Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion who were considered to have worked optimally in the preparation phase.
"Thank you to all the ranks in East Java who have worked their hardest. I ask you to continue to maintain cohesiveness and improve service standards. Our focus is one: providing the best for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims," he said.
The meeting was also used to strengthen coordination between fields ahead of the departure of the congregation, which will begin in the near future.
