Indonesia National Team's Easy Victory over Saint Kitts-Nevis as Targeted

JAKARTA - Indonesian national team coach John Herdman assessed that the 4-0 victory his team achieved over Saint Kitts and Nevis in the 2026 FIFA Series match was in line with the target.

Herdman made his debut as coach of the Indonesian National Team positively. The 4-0 victory over Saint Kitts and Nevis at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta, Friday, March 27, 2026, WIB night, was won thanks to Beckham Putra's double goal, and one goal each from Ole Romeny and Mauro Ziljstra.

"We set a target before the game to score four goals and keep a clean sheet. We knew we would rotate the squad."

"We want to give a lot of opportunities to the players who participate in the training. I think they handled the match very professionally."

"I think that's the most important thing. It's the first time we've played together, just a few training sessions, but, yeah, I'm really proud of the players tonight," Herdman told a post-match news conference.

In Herdman's view, one of the important things to be able to realize his team is not to be included at all is discipline.

Saint Kitts and Nevis were recorded as having minimal opportunities and goalkeeper Maarten Paes didn't work hard in this match.

"To keep a clean sheet, it's about discipline, and scoring from dead-ball situations is important. We worked hard for that."

"Some of the goals in transition, which internationally I think is one of the most important areas of the game."

"So, I'm happy with the elements tonight, but it's just the beginning. I think our journey is still long."

"We will face a difficult match against Bulgaria in the upcoming match. We managed to rotate quite a few players. So, looking forward to the FIFA Series 2026 final on Monday," said the English coach.

This victory brings Indonesia to face the European team, Bulgaria, in the 2026 FIFA Series final which will take place at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium on Monday, March 30, 2026.
