Tol Cisumdawu Retak, the Ministry of PU ensures that traffic remains safe and under control
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has ensured that the handling of cracks on the Cisumdawu Toll Road KM 207+350 Route A (Dawuan direction) has been carried out quickly and is now under technical control so that traffic conditions remain safe and under control.
Based on the results of monitoring on Friday, March 27, a crack was identified along about 100 meters with a pattern resembling a crown approaching the edge of the 2nd lane.
The condition is being monitored intensively to ensure the safety of road users.
As an initial handling step, officers have installed warning signs around the location, regulated traffic into one lane, limited vehicle speed, and filled cracks with concrete and covered the area with tarpaulins to prevent water from entering.
Minister PU Dody Hanggodo emphasized that road user safety is the main priority in handling this condition, without neglecting the importance of connectivity.
"Connectivity must be maintained, but most importantly is the safety of road users. Therefore, the handling is carried out quickly while still prioritizing the principle of caution," said Dody, quoted from a written statement, Saturday, March 28.
Head of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) of the Ministry of PU Wilan Oktavian said that the toll road can still be passed with limited lane arrangements.
"In terms of safety, the toll road can still be passed with limited traffic lane arrangements and all handling steps are carried out by prioritizing the principle of caution," he said.
For permanent handling, the PU Ministry together with the Toll Business Entity (BUJT) PT Citra Karya Jabar Tol (CKJT) is conducting a comprehensive technical study.
The study includes topographic measurements, soil investigation, installation and reading of inclinometer instruments and geotechnical analysis to determine the appropriate strengthening method.
Currently, three units of soil movement monitoring devices (inclinometers) have been installed at the location.
Initial monitoring results showed indications of land movement which became the basis for determining the next steps in handling.
The permanent handling is planned to use the bore pile method with a handling length of about 100 meters, with the target completion of the design at the end of April 2026.
In addition, the PU Ministry is also preparing mitigation steps if there is a development in the field, including the possibility of implementing contraflow on Route B (Bandung direction) which will be coordinated with the police.
The PU Ministry appeals to road users to remain calm, obey traffic signs, and follow the instructions of officers in the field and official information provided by the government.
