Indonesian Embassy Reports Fake TikTok Account with the Name of the Kuala Lumpur Embassy

JAKARTA - The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuala Lumpur (KBRI KL) reported a fake TikTok social media account in the name of KBRI KL, to TikTok representatives, to be immediately deleted.

"We have reported on the TikTok platform about the account to be taken down. We will also report the account to TikTok representatives," said the Coordinator of Information, Social and Cultural Functions (Pensosbud) of the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Fery Iswandi, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, March 28.

Fery conveyed the announcement and appeal to be aware of the fake account was also posted in the service room of the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

As previously reported, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Kuala Lumpur asked the public to be aware of fake social media accounts on TikTok that are in the name of the KBRI KL.

The appeal was conveyed by the Indonesian Embassy in KL through an announcement on the official Instagram social media @indonesiainkualalumpur, which was published in Kuala Lumpur, Friday evening.

"Beware of fraud in the name of the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. There is a fake TikTok account that represents the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur and commits fraud and communicates via WhatsApp by asking for people's personal data," said the warning from the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur on the Instagram platform.

The Indonesian Embassy in KL emphasized that it did not have a TikTok account. The Indonesian Embassy in KL also never asked for personal data through social media or private WhatsApp.
